New Electrical Work at Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre

Downer EDI Limited (Downer) today announced it had been awarded a contract by the Grocon/ PCL construction Joint Venture, part of the Plenary Health Consortium, for electrical work on the new Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) Project South Facility.

The contract is valued at more than $85 million and involves the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of fully operational, high and low voltage electrical services.

The VCCC project in Parkville, Melbourne, is being procured as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) by the Victorian State Government and will be a world-class facility for cancer research, treatment and care.

The Chief Executive Officer of Downer, Grant Fenn, said Downer had a long history of delivering large scale commercial projects in this region and the company was pleased to be involved in delivering this critical piece of infrastructure for the people of Victoria.

Construction of the hospital commenced in late 2011 and is due for completion by end 2015, with service delivery to commence in 2016.
