T2UH wins the Australasian Rail Association’s Innovation and Technology award
05/11/2021
We are thrilled to share that the Trentham to Upper Hutt Double Tracking (T2UH) project was the winner of the Innovation and Technology category at the 2021 Australasian Rail Industry Awards virtual ceremony last night!
These international awards recognise and celebrate the achievements, innovation, and successes of those working in the rail industry, and we are so proud of T2UH team KiwiRail, and Aurecon, Downer, Conrad Robertson and Paul Miller, our subcontractors and tech partners for taking away the win!
Downer Australia was a finalist in the same category for its TrainTraX initiative (data-driven decision-making for everyday train maintenance activities). Other finalists included North Western Program Alliance and Rio Tinto Iron Ore – Banking.
T2UH’s Digital Engineering innovations, including 3D machine avoidance, have attracted attention from within the NZ construction industry and beyond. It was identified as a beacon project by New Zealand’s Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment.
Andy Lyon – Digital Programme Director – Digital Engineering at KiwiRail accepted the award on behalf of project partners, Downer and Aurecon, “With our entry, we wanted to honour all the people involved in this project who worked tirelessly as a team to help kick-start our digital transformation journey.”
