Downer a winner with Denny Avenue

Downer has been announced as the preferred proponent to construct the road and civil infrastructure components of the Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal project, in Perth, Western Australia.

This level crossing causes more accidents on Denny Avenue per metre than any other road in Australia. The Denny Avenue level crossing removal is a priority project for the state and the first of its kind as part of the Metronet level crossing removal program. Removing this crossing will also increase the safety of walking, cycling and driving in the area, as well as reduce road congestion and revitalise the local area. It involves the replacement of the current Denny Avenue level crossing with a rail-over-road underpass at the nearby Davis Road.

The Downer team is looking forward to building this critical infrastructure with the PTA and becoming a significant contributor to Perth’s transport infrastructure redevelopment. Last month Downer was also awarded the rail package as part of the Denny Avenue project.
