NSW AAPA recognition

Our Road Services team has been recognised with three Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) NSW awards.

Raymond Darmanin, Senior Paving Supervisor, was awarded the AAPA NSW Road Worker of the Year Award, for his 25 years’ experience in the industry where he has developed as a well-respected peer, mentor and an airport paving specialist working on high profile projects.

The team won the Outstanding Project Award for their Sydney Airport Corporation Limited (SACL) Taxiway Tango project recognising Downer’s ability to deliver an outstanding quality outcome on a technically complex project at Australia’s busiest airport.

Lastly, Gana Varendran, General Manager Surfacing – NSW & ACT, was recognised with the Industry Leadership Award for his 20 year commitment to the flexible pavements industry, and contribution to Downer, AAPA and various organisations/working groups where he promotes the benefits of our industry.

“Raymond, Gana and the whole team involved in the delivery of SACL Taxiway Tango should be very proud of their achievements”, added Jim.
