Established in 1994, Ecosure is the largest privately owned specialist environmental consultancy in Queensland, providing services across Australia and the Pacific to major projects, business, government and community. 

The organisation is on a mission to improve the ecosystems of 100 million hectares and 1,000 islands by 2030. We spoke with Diane Lanyon, Director of Strategic Partnerships to learn more about Ecosure’s valuable work and successful collaborations working in Defence industry.

Why is working in Defence industry important to your business? 

Working in the Defence industry is important to Ecosure, it allows us to partner with forward thinking organisations that share our values and are striving to enhance environmental outcomes on Defence land. We aim to make a difference, and together we can expand our reach to have a more meaningful impact on land and sea, through cultural, social and economic outcomes in the local communities and regions where we work.

What is the most valuable support a Prime can provide to your business?

Collaboration and partnership are the most valuable support a Prime can provide a business like Ecosure. We worked closely with Downer Defence and Darumbal Enterprises to assist in a project mentoring and instructing trainee rangers. Downer Defence valued our years of experience and knowledge on site as well as our ability to provide practical on ground education to the trainee rangers in a variety of ecosystems. Through collaboration, we all made great things happen that has ensured wonderful outcomes for the young rangers and for Country.   

How has Downer Defence contributed to your business success?

Downer Defence is one of our most important clients and has largely contributed to our business growth by listening to and respecting our subject matter experts. As a local and highly experienced SME, we can provide a quality, tailored approach to environmental solutions. Downer Defence has also been highly supportive and open to the engagement of regional businesses and experts and First Nations Peoples in the projects we work on which contributes to the sustainability of local communities.

What advice would you give another SME trying to start up or scale in the Defence industry?
