Downer New Zealand leadership update
05/09/2022
Downer New Zealand has today announced that Steve Killeen intends to step down as CEO at the end of 2022.
Steve first joined Downer in 2005 and has been running the New Zealand business for the last six years.
Under Steve’s leadership, Downer New Zealand has undertaken a major transformation, which has delivered strong and sustainable growth.
“I simply couldn't be prouder of the effort the team has put to get us here and to set the foundation for Downer NZ’s future.” Said Steve Killeen. Since 2017, Downer New Zealand have brought Hawkins and Spotless into their whānau, now with revenues exceeding NZ$3bn and over 10,000 employees.
“Downer New Zealand is in the best position it has ever been, and well placed to take advantage of the opportunities ahead. It is now an ideal time to pass the reins to the next CEO who can lead Downer through the next phase of its development in New Zealand.”
“I will remain focused on leading the business and working alongside the New Zealand executive team until the new CEO is appointed.”
Steve will also be leaving New Zealand at this time and will take the opportunity to spend more time with friends and family prior to deciding what next for him.
“Downer is a special place to work and our tikanga will live on with me whatever direction my waka takes,” he said.
