Downer hosts Young Transport Professionals event

Downer recently hosted an event for the Young Transport Professionals (YTP) - a network of young people working in the Victorian transport sector.
 
This partnership with the YTP aims to promote professional development and networking opportunities for the next generation of transport employees, including young people in disciplines such as engineering, community relations, environmental science and communications.

Over 50 people attended the event and represented organisations such as Metro Trains Melbourne, Jacobs Engineering and Rail Projects Victoria.

“Events like these are a great pathway for young people to meet others in the industry and get ahead in our careers,” said Dev, who has worked at Metro Trains Melbourne as an engineer for two years. “It’s an opportunity for people from different companies that are facing similar challenges to come together, connect and collaborate.”

Callam, a graduate from Metro Trains Melbourne, also enjoyed connecting with industry peers at the event, saying: “Everyone here is in the same industry and has the same goals. I am amazed out how welcoming the transport community is, it feels like a family.”
