Downer to deliver Hobart Airport Runway Upgrade
04/06/2024
Downer’s Transport & Infrastructure team have been awarded the Hobart Airport Runway Upgrade as part of the overall $130 million airfield infrastructure project. Located in Tasmania, Australia, this project is a vital step towards improving the state's infrastructure, unlocking new opportunities for tourism and trade directly to and from Asia.
Our Specialist Pavement and Project team will lead the project, ensuring seamless execution and minimal disruption to airfield operations.
Stuart Billing, EGM for T&I Australia, shares his excitement: "This reflects Downer’s ongoing investment into Tasmania and our long-term relationship with Hobart Airport."
“We’re proud to be involved with this project, which will have such a positive economic impact on the state.”
Specialised Pavements & Projects Pre-Contracts Manager Callum Bollard said we're ready to roll up our sleeves and we have started mobilising to site, aiming to commence works in July and for completion by mid-2025.
“Our approach to constructing the works draws upon Downer’s extensive experience in delivering airfield projects, minimising disruption and ensuring the safety of aircraft and the travelling public.”
Stuart can be seen here speaking the press and reviewing plans on the runway at Hobart Airport’s press event today with Hon Julie Collins MP, Hobart Airport CEO Norris Carter, Brian Mitchell MP and Senator Catryna Bilyk.
