Modern self-service reporting for national linen company
16/08/2023
Ensign is a large garment rental and laundering company. Trading as Linen Services Australia, it is a specialist provider of healthcare linen and textiles to the healthcare industry across Australia. xDNA embedded a digital reporting system for Linen Services Australia to integrate data sources and automate reporting for both staff and customers.
Following the success of this implementation, xDNA also provided a smart solution for Ensign’s garment arm of the business.
At a glance
- Siloed points of data were not providing clear reports.
- Neuroverse combines laundry data streams to create consistent and accurate reports.
- Multiple users can access different types of reports, though customers are restricted to viewing data for their own site/s.
- Ongoing potential for data analytics and strategic decision making.
Problem
For its linen collection and laundering customers, such as hospitals and clinics, Linen Services Australia was maintaining 2 separate data systems to record day-to-day actions. When extracting information from these databases for reporting purposes – to see trends in spend, usage and quality – staff were needing to manually extract data to Excel and clean up the report to meet client requirements. This was resulting in administrative inefficiencies and inconsistent presentation to customers. Given the scope of Linen Services Australia’s operations, with its laundries providing linen service for more than 45,000 hospital beds across Australia, the management team wanted to find a smarter tech solution.
Solution
Following a workshop and visits to several laundries to scope requirements, xDNA created a reporting platform using the power of Neuroverse. Data is securely sourced from disparate operational and financial data sources (using encryption), then presented in a simple and professional report format using PowerBI functionality. The reports can inform customers and staff about order details, usage versus cost, delivery and rejected linen items.
The new system offers a greater level of transparency between Linen Services Australia and its customers. Hospitals and clinics can log in to their own account via Neuroverse to access regular reports at any time. This provides a self-service option that saves time when customers are assessing contractual compliance. Linen Services Australia staff can also look at a benchmarking report to assess performance across a number of different healthcare sites.
The reporting solution was implemented in less than 3 months.
Outcome
Building on a long-term client relationship and extensive knowledge of Neuroverse capability, xDNA has helped Linen Services Australia simplify and modernise its approach to reporting. The system means Linen Services Australia can extract consistent reports to meet compliance objectives. The platform also has the potential to support more strategic decision making based on trends. The Neuroverse platform continues to scale for other reporting needs within Linen Services Australia.
After implementing a successful solution for Linen Services Australia, the garments arm of Ensign approached xDNA to create a similar reporting option, which has also been put into action.
The fusion of operational technology with enterprise process data means otherwise siloed points of data can be brought together to offer valuable insights. These insights may help with contract performance, cost/revenue performance and sustainability of operations.
