New Zealand Asset Management & Facilities Management contract
10/05/2018
Downer EDI Limited (Downer) announced today it had received a Letter of Award for Asset Management and Facilities Management Services to the Department of Corrections and Ministry of Justice pending a final contract in the coming month. The contract is for a ten-year period and Downer will take over from the current provider, Spotless Facilities Services NZ Limited (Spotless) in a staged rollout plan during the second half of 2018.
Under the new agreement, Downer will deliver an enhanced and extended scope of work, increased use of technology to improve tracking and delivery of work and improved asset management, and new processes to ensure that these essential Crown assets and facilities are well-managed and maintained.
Project Director, Barry Smart, said Downer was pleased to be expanding its footprint for Asset Management and Facilities Management.
“This new contract is an excellent example of Downer’s capability in Asset Management and Facilities Management,” Mr Smart said. “We look forward to working closely with the Department of Corrections and Ministry of Justice to deliver sustainable asset management and facilities management services for the New Zealand public. Downer and Spotless are working together to ensure minimal disruption at any of the Agency sites during the transition.”
During the tender process Downer acquired a majority shareholding of Spotless Group Holdings, who control Spotless Facilities NZ Limited, the incumbent provider. Throughout the re-tender process, the Agencies treated the two as separate entities and ensured appropriate governance was in place to ensure independence.
