Forestry, parks and rural
Downer has close to two decades’ experience in the construction of forestry, parks, rural roads and trails in Tasmania.
Our team has the knowledge and capabilities to deliver quality unsealed roads, built to comply with Tasmania’s Forest Practices Code.
We have successfully delivered a range of projects in remote locations and know how to build long lasting roads using in-situ materials.
We are accustomed to working in challenging environments with varying terrain. This includes working in dense bushland building fire trails and working in remote forests constructing roads designed for high volumes of heavy vehicle traffic.
Our team understands the requirements of working in World Heritage Areas, National Parks and reserves such as Wellington Park, and our work is undertaken sensitively to protect the important natural values of these places.
Our key capabilities include:
- Road and fire trail formation
- Drainage and culvert installation
- Earthworks
- Vegetation clearing
- Windrowing
- Clearing fire breaks
- Emergency and incident response including assistance with fighting bushfires, such as putting in control lines
- Quarry works – winning of material
- Dam construction
- Stabilisation of subgrades and pavements
- Environmental management
- Re-sheeting and grading
