Women of Downer Defence
Shaping the future of the defence industry.
Women are delivering critical Defence capability – leading complex projects, solving strategic challenges and strengthening Australia’s national security.
At Downer, we’re proud to work alongside women who enable Defence capability every day.
Across Downer Defence, women are delivering outcomes that put Australia’s interests first – leading complex programs, strengthening sovereign capability, and supporting Defence across the full capability lifecycle. From major projects through to sustainment and through‑life support of critical assets, they play a vital role in supporting Defence and building trusted partnerships with industry.
Whether leading teams, mentoring future leaders or championing change, the impact of our women is significant. We are proud of their expertise, leadership and ongoing contribution to Defence capability.
Making a positive impact.
We’re proud to be the headline sponsor of the 2026 Australian Defence Magazine’s Women in Defence Awards, celebrating the talented, determined, successful women who are making a positive impact across the defence industry.

Meet our emerging talent.
Starting as a young electrical apprentice in Townsville, Cyndle knew stepping into a traditionally male‑dominated trade could be daunting. But from day one at Downer, she found a team that backed her and she quickly discovered a supportive crew who were eager to share their knowledge and help her grow.

Downer Building & Construction Women’s Scholarships.
Downer has partnered with Wodonga TAFE to deliver the Downer Building and Construction Women’s Scholarships, supporting women from the Albury‑Wodonga region to pursue a career in the building and construction industry.
The scholarships provide financial support for women enrolled in the Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Site Management) at Wodonga TAFE, helping to empower local talent and invest in the next generation.
With a strong history delivering major projects across the region – including the Riverina Redevelopment Program across Wagga Wagga and Wodonga, Downer is proud to support local women to upskill, and create pathways to employment in this vital industry.
