Downer has renewed its Electrical Maintenance Services contract with Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG), continuing a partnership that has supported critical export infrastructure at the Port of Newcastle since 2010.

The new agreement secures a further three years of service, with extension options that could see the partnership continue for up to six more years.

Under the contract, Downer will continue to provide specialist low and high voltage electrical services at NCIG’s Kooragang Island terminal, helping maintain critical assets and support safe, reliable and efficient operations.

Downer has worked at the terminal since its original development, building deep knowledge of the site, its assets and operational requirements. Today, our Hunter-based team works closely with NCIG as an integrated part of its maintenance function.

The renewed contract builds on more than 15 years of electrical maintenance experience at NCIG, combining specialist technical capability with long-standing asset knowledge and a strong focus on customer outcomes.

For Murray Richards, Downer’s EGM Energy & Industrial, the longevity of the partnership reflects the alignment between the two organisations and the consistent performance of the people delivering the work.

“The key factor in our longevity on this contract has been the alignment between Downer and NCIG’s cultures around safety, quality and relationships,” Murray said.

The contract renewal reflects the expertise, consistency and customer focus of Downer’s local Hunter-based team and demonstrates our capability to support complex, critical infrastructure throughout its lifecycle, from construction through to long-term operations and maintenance.
