Downer awarded AusNet gas services contract extension

Downer’s Energy & Utilities business has announced it had been awarded a further three-year extension to its gas services contract with AusNet Services (AusNet), valued at ~ $200 million.

The extension will see Downer continue to provide operations, maintenance, asset replacement, capital works and meter reading services across AusNet’s entire gas distribution network.

Downer’s CEO, Peter Tompkins, said the extension was testament to Downer’s outstanding performance on AusNet’s gas network for more than two decades.

“Downer has a strong and long-standing relationship with AusNet, having managed their gas distribution network since 2013,” Peter said.

“This extension demonstrates our ability to deliver best-in-class solutions for our customers with a focus on safety, efficiency and reliability. Whether it is planned work, unplanned fault repairs, meter services, new connections or mains replacements, Downer’s 24/7 operations ensure we effectively manage and maintain AusNet’s network, serving more than 790,000 end-customers.”

EGM Industrial & Power Generation, Murray Richards, also congratulated the Domestic Gas team and acknowledged the hard work that went into securing this extension.

The contract extension commences in April 2026, and following the completion of the current contract term.
