Women in infrastructure

We are passionate about fostering an inclusive work environment where employees of all genders can reach their full potential.

Our goal is to be the preferred employer of choice by creating opportunities that energise and empower.

We recognise the unique challenges faced by women in traditionally male-dominated industries. That’s why Downer is launching strategic initiatives to enhance female representation across our organisation. We are committed to a future where everyone thrives, contributing to our high-performing, agile, and conscious workforce.

Thrive

Thrive is Downer’s female leadership program, which is designed to help participants tackle challenges and grow, both personally and professionally. It’s designed to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and tools to take the next step in their career with confidence.

Participants are encouraged to take ownership of their development – committing time, energy, and focus to complete the program and apply what they’ve learned. Thrive is more than a program; it’s an opportunity for participants to shape their future.

“The THRIVE program has educated me to identify and understand the soft skills I already have, and to develop them further. I have also gained additional skills and strategies needed, to be a strong, contributing, empathetic, and successful team member or leader. Additionally, the most enjoyable part of the program was connecting with knowledgeable, strong-minded women who wish to drive their careers.”  – Ruth 2023 Thrive Alumni

EmpowerHer

Our Women’s network that promotes connection, collaboration and support.

EmpowHER is Downer’s women’s network which aims to create a supportive and inclusive environment for women across the organisation. The network will provide a platform for women employees to connect, voice their thoughts, share experiences and receive guidance, ultimately fostering their professional growth and career.

The purpose of EmpowHER:

  • Create a safe and confidential space for women to discuss challenges, seek advice and share experiences, especially in a predominantly male-dominated work environment.
  • Offer opportunities to share career progression and life journeys, fostering a culture of mentorship and guidance.
  • Facilitate interactions with senior leadership team members, eliminate barriers and address the glass ceiling, providing insight into career progression and life journeys.
