Downer delivers integrated maintenance and incident response services for Melbourne’s iconic CityLink and the new West Gate Tunnel – two of Australia’s busiest road networks. 

We work collaboratively with Transurban to manage complex tunnel systems and maintain critical infrastructure, including internal structures, ventilation, and fire safety systems. Our goal is to ensure our customer’s tunnel networks operate safely and efficiently. 

Our commitment goes beyond routine maintenance. We provide day-to-day operational support, with incident response teams on standby to assist with vehicle breakdowns and other incidents at a moment’s notice. With dedicated vehicles strategically positioned across the network to ensure rapid response times, we also conduct scheduled tunnel closures to maintain the CityLink network to the highest standards. These activities are carefully planned to ensure the safety of drivers while minimising disruption to local communities. Additionally, we carry out routine maintenance of roadside assets, vegetation management, and upkeep of intelligent transport systems. On top of the road network inspections, Downer provides pavement surfacing solutions to deliver end-to-end value in the management of road networks.
