Since 2016, Downer has supported seven students through a scholarship program, valued at $30,000 per year, as part of the Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) Partnership with the Australian National University (ANU).

Gary McDonald, Contract Manager for ANU says “Downer values our partnership with the Australian National University (ANU) in the Purpose Built Student Accommodation Projects that we manage. We are committed to and proud of, the difference we are making within our community, and thrilled to be involved in such a worthy initiative. “

The scholarships make a significant impact in helping candidates from regional and rural backgrounds to study and succeed at ANU, here is feedback from one of the scholarship recipients that highlights the impact and importance of this partnership scholarship program:

“I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for Downer’s generosity in funding this scholarship. It has been my honour to be the recipient of this award and the assistance has proven to be invaluable. I am in my third year of studying a Bachelor of Health Science, with the hope of pursuing postgraduate study in the field of medicine and science, and the long-term goal of becoming a Doctor of Medicine & Surgery. Thanks to your generous scholarship, I am now a whole lot closer to achieving my goals.”

ANU is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) Long Term Contract in Downer’s Heath & Education portfolio, which sits under Social Infrastructure & Citizen Services in Downer’s trans-Tasman business.
