Founded by Fred Hawkins in the 1940s and now a wholly-owned Downer subsidiary, Hawkins combines local heritage with the resources, financial stability, and governance of one of Australasia’s leading infrastructure providers.

Wynyard Quarter Innovation Precinct

HIWA, Recreation Centre, University of Auckland

An eight-level, state-of-the art recreation and wellness complex at the University of Auckland, opened in 2025.

Tōtara Haumaru

Opened in 2024, Health New Zealand Waitemata’s 19,700m², four-storey, surgical and medical hospital building is situated within the North Shore Hospital campus.

Tauranga Moana Courthouse

Hawkins is building the new Tauranga Moana Courthouse, which will increase the existing 10 courtrooms to 13 and include provision for High Court trials to return to Tauranga.

RNZAF Base Ohakea - Te Whare Toroa

The Royal New Zealand Air Force’s (RNZAF) new 20,000 m² state-of-the-art building at Base Ohakea in the Manawatū was officially opened in August 2025.

Auckland Airport Domestic Jet Terminal

Hawkins is building the new Domestic Jet Terminal at Auckland Airport, which will connect to the present international terminal, creating a smoother, more spacious experience for travellers.

City Rail Link

Hawkins is responsible for delivering the facades and fitouts of Auckland’s City Rail Link main stations – Waitematā, Te Waihorotiu, and Karanga-a-Hape.
