Downer Defence Australian Veterans’ Family Scholarships
Proudly supporting the families of those who’ve served.
The Downer Defence Australian Veterans’ Family Scholarships have been established to support the children and grandchildren of Australian Veterans to pursue a tertiary education.
Downer recognises the dedication of Australian veterans and the impact their service can have on their families. We are proud to support them by helping to ease the financial burden of tertiary education, creating new opportunities for their family.

With a strong 80-year history supporting Defence, Downer’s workforce includes many veterans and their spouses who continue to serve their country through the work we do across the Defence Estate, our technical and advisory services, and on Defence Major Projects.
These scholarships reflect Downer’s commitment to supporting current and transitioned Defence personnel and their families and is deeply connected to our Purpose ‘Enabling Communities to Thrive’.

One scholarship is made available each year and is administered by Australian Veterans’ Children Assistance Trust (AVCAT). Transforming lives through education, AVCAT is a national charity managing tertiary scholarships to assist children and grandchildren of the Australian ex-service veteran community with the costs of full-time tertiary education. The scholarship is awarded based on financial need, academic potential, and deservedness, supporting students with full-time study at University, TAFE or Registered Training Organisations within Australia.
All scholarship applications and enquiries are made via the AVCAT website. For a full list of eligibility criteria or to find out more, click the link below.
