Landfill management
Our team have expertise in the sustainable construction and management of landfill sites for domestic and hazardous waste.
Most recently, Downer contributed to landfill cell development at the Waste Management Centre in Glenorchy, Tasmania. The completed works included:
- Clay base for structural integrity
- Geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) that swells to seal moisture
- Engineered plastic liner and cushioning layer
- Drainage system to safely manage leachate
This work extended the landfill cell’s life until 2032, meeting all EPA compliance standards.
