Downer provides high-performance asphalt solutions across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, for customers that include central and local government, and private infrastructure asset owners.

As one of the largest manufacturers of asphalt, Downer operates a significant network of mobile and fixed asphalt plants that include High Recycling Technology (HRT) Series asphalt plants, producing sustainable asphalt mixes with up to 100% recycled content. Our annual asphalt output exceeds three million tonnes, with the sustainability of our products independently verified through Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). EPDs offer customers verified carbon emissions statements for the products that we produce.

Our core asphalt surfacing capabilities include:

  • Provision of specialist surfacing for environments with specific requirements, such as airports, ports, motor-racing tracks, and high-specification infrastructure.
  • Intelligent paving equipment that provides advanced and highly precise levelling and compaction.
  • Dedicated research and development through our Road Science business to provide innovative and sustainable products and solutions targeted to specific road network needs, specifications, performance requirements, traffic volumes, and climate conditions.

In New Zealand

We service regions across the North and South Islands, via a national network of over 60 depots, and key operations include our Road Science business for high-performance road and pavement solutions and Green Vision for sustainable aggregate products and services.

In Australia

We operate across all states and territories – metro and regional, and key operations also include RPQ Group (in Queensland and New South Wales), Fowlers Asphalting in Victoria, and our Reconomy business.
