Meet Heather. Starting as a Trades Assistant, Heather now works onsite as a Health & Safety Advisor across our sites in the Hunter.
She’s passionate about people being able to work safely, getting the job done for our customers like AGL and giving back to the local community.

More than 25 apprentices start their trade careers with Downer each year. Some are following family footsteps. Others are drawn by the variety of work, hands-on learning and long-term pathways on offer.

Downer’s Hexham facility is one of the region’s key industrial bases, supporting mechanical and electrical shutdowns, turnarounds, and outage services across critical operations such as Bayswater Power Station, Port of Newcastle, Tomago Aluminum, Orica, and NCIG.
It is also a key manufacturing and distribution hub for bespoke switchboards to large-scale transportable switch rooms
