Asset management
Providing practical and data-driven asset management solutions underpins how we generate value for customers, across all our key sectors.
Our approach focuses on delivering value for money and optimising asset life to provide customers with optimal asset performance and longevity, particularly for complex asset bases.
Using our asset management capabilities to gain a comprehensive understanding of asset condition, characteristics and response to different maintenance and rehabilitation interventions, allows us to provide customers with targeted maintenance and construction solutions. Our asset management system is ISO 55001 Asset Management System certified. This certification, together with proven road condition surveying and data capture tools, gives customers confidence in our findings and proposed solutions.
We start by understanding asset and network conditions, and assessing the likely responses to proposed interventions, using innovative data capture, analysis and modelling tools. These tools include Juno Viewer for road asset modelling, smart technology like the LCMS2 Apollo single-pass 3D sensor for pavement inspections, Maximo Software and RAMM’s Asset Work Manager for asset data management, and a range of IoT technology for real time asset condition monitoring.
In New Zealand our network maintenance and operations services are supported by Road Science’s fleet of road condition surveying tools, including Fast Falling Weight Deflectometers, which play a critical role in pavement design and rehabilitation, and the Leica Pegasus Mobile Laser Scanner for rapid and highly accurate (capturing data with sub-centimetre accuracy), in-motion asset surveys of all road types, from urban transport corridors to airports and ports.
We also use Esri ArcGIS for asset data visualisation, quickly understanding asset relationships with their location and other variables to inform maintenance and rehabilitation approaches.
More recent additions to our suite of innovative solutions include autonomous robot inspections, cloud-based SaaS platforms, and AI-driven diagnostics, which consider localised conditions and asset history to help predict future conditions and optimal intervention points.
Our tools and methods are easy to engage with, enabling us to instil an asset management approach at all levels. Our asset management dashboards bring clarity to findings and enable a common understanding between all parties, which is crucial to operationalising asset management strategies. This creates a workforce that can readily engage in a customer’s asset management strategies and implement approaches aligned with their budget requirements.
With regard to road maintenance, we use asset management to achieve the optimal balance of reactive and preventative maintenance, and to inform the optimal timing and approach for renewal investment. Using asset data and failure analysis we predict the timing and method of preventative maintenance to achieve reliability centred maintenance outcomes that extend asset life and reliability and improve efficiencies.
