How Downer kept Canterbury’s State Highways moving
Overview
For around 10 years, Downer maintained and improved Canterbury’s state highway network through the North Canterbury and South Canterbury Network Outcomes Contracts with the NZ Transport Agency. Together, the contracts covered diverse transport corridors extending from Kekerengu, Kaikōura and Christchurch in the north through Ashburton and Timaru to the Waitaki River in the south, and inland to Omarama, Geraldine and Aoraki/Mt Cook.
Across urban highways, alpine and coastal routes, rural roads and freight corridors, Downer’s teams delivered maintenance, renewals, resurfacing, road marking, traffic management, stakeholder management and asset-performance services for over 1,400 combined kilometres of state highway.
