Downer constructed three new SH16 Lincoln to Westgate bridges at Royal Rd, Huruhuru Rd and across Huruhuru Creek.
Royal Rd Bridge was replaced and raised to provide greater height clearance and widened to accommodate new lanes, including an eastbound lane and cycle lanes. Huruhuru Rd Bridge was replaced and raised to provide greater height clearance to SH16. The bridge over Huruhuru Creek consisted of stone strong abutments and 14 34m long Super-T beams. Through value engineering we removed the need for piles in the creek, significantly reducing environmental impact. The bridge was constructed in two stages to allow continuation of safe traffic flows.
