At Downer, we take a proactive approach to environmental management, embedding it across our operations and decision-making. Guided by our Environmental Sustainability Policy and 10 Environmental Principles, we equip our people and partners with clear, practical direction to minimise impacts, meet compliance requirements, and in many cases go beyond them. Our Environmental Management System, certified to AS/NZS ISO 14001:2015 and fully integrated into The Downer Standard, provides consistent oversight and accountability across our operations. By identifying and addressing risks early, we ensure our operational teams are supported to act responsibly and sustainably, while driving continuous improvement in how we work. This approach reflects our commitment to protecting the environment, building trust with the communities we serve, and enabling long-term value for our customers and stakeholders.
Climate change and decarbonisation
Climate change poses a threat to the economy, our health, our communities and our future. Downer’s commitments are aligned with a 1.5°C pathway and support the transition to net zero emissions by 2050.
